Training of Teachers..........
"Teacher should be subjects to rigorous training with rigid scrutiny of efficiency. The training needs to have greater relevance to the needs of the day. The all trained teachers or substandard teacher would be detrimental to our educational system if not a punishment to our children. The Govt. And The University must, therefore, take care to see that inadequacy in the training of teachers is not compounded by any extraneous Consideration."
-Honorable Supreme Court of India.
It is clear that one of the major criticism of teacher education as a professor is the lack of an "identifiable body of knowledge"that will be treated as a consensus prerequisite for an effective practicing teacher. As a result "the focus of teaching continues to be where it was under colonial rule" (Krishna Kumar) and "the theory of education as taught through courses in Teacher Education is not integrated with practices of schooling" (M. S. Yadav). In order to achieve the target of Quality-teacher-Education, National Council of Teacher Education (N.C.T.E), the apex body of teacher education in the country has set up certain norms forms for B.Ed colleges. It is a great pleasure to us to announce that we are following such norms, to the satisfaction of Calcutta University and U.G.C. We are waiting for the grant of recognition from N.C.T.E. The execellent teaching and non-teaching staff of the institution, we hope, would do their best for the uplift of this B.Ed College and upto the satisfaction of the beneficiaries, as well as, of the oncerned authorities.
